Celebrating Excellence: 2026 Fire Resilience Excellence Awards Finalists Announced

Mar 18, 2026News

The shortlist for the second annual Fire Resilience Excellence Awards (FREAs) has been unveiled, recognising the organisations and individuals delivering exceptional work to reduce fire risk and strengthen resilience across the UK. These awards highlight those who are setting new benchmarks in fire safety through leadership, innovation, and measurable impact.

The FREAs were established to shine a spotlight on excellence throughout the fire resilience community. With a focus on recognising forward-thinking initiatives and dedicated professionals, the awards celebrate those making meaningful contributions to protecting people, property, and infrastructure from fire.

Independent and inclusive by design, the awards welcome participation from across the sector. Guided by strong ethical standards, the judging process is supported by a wide network of respected industry bodies and special interest groups, all of whom put forward representatives to serve on the judging panel, including: British Automatic Fire Sprinkler Association (BAFSA), National Security Inspectorate (NSI), Fire Sector Confederation (FSC), Fire Doors Inspection Scheme (FDIS), British Approvals for Fire Equipment (BAFE), Security Systems and Alarms Inspection Board (SSAIB), Institute of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM), Women Talking Fire, British Fire Services Association (BFSA), Security Industry Federation (SIF), Fire Brigades Union, The Emergency Planning Society (EPS), National Association of Healthcare Fire Officers (NAHFO), Women in the Fire Service, Fire Protection Association (FPA), Industry Committee for Emergency Lighting (ICEL), Airport Fire Officers’ Association, Fire Industry Association (FIA), Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE) and The Social Housing Fire Strategy Group.

The 2026 ceremony, proudly sponsored by AXA, will take place on 29 April 2026 at the Birmingham Metropole Hotel. Held alongside The Safety and Security Series, the evening will bring together leaders and practitioners from across the fire safety community to celebrate the sector’s achievements and reveal this year’s winners.
